Telephone Befriending Service

Age UK Cheshire has set up a Telephone Befriending Service (Sharing Time) to help combat loneliness in the over 50s, especially during the coronavirus pandemic.

The coronavirus pandemic has changed life for everyone, but some older people are among the hardest hit. Age UK Cheshire is determined to be there through this crisis - but we can't do it without support.

This telephone befriending service operates across Cheshire West and Chester. The service is suitable for clients who are over 50, who are lonely or isolated and would like regular companionship through a weekly phone calls.

Clients and volunteers will be matched, and the volunteer will arrange regular calls with the older person. This could be from 20 minutes a week and all we ask is that you commit to calling on a regular basis.

We are looking for volunteers who:

  • Are comfortable talking on the phone to an older person
  • Can commit to calling a client at least once a week
  • Will provide updates on calls to Age UK Cheshire via a simple online feedback form after every call
Only registered members can apply for opportunities.
