Parkinson's cafés are a new way of supporting people affected by Parkinson's in a relaxed and informal setting. They offer regular access to friendship, shared experiences and information. They are run by volunteers, and work on an informal drop in basis. As a Café Coordinator you will:

• ensure the café gathering takes place on a set day and time, and that those attending are warmly welcomed

• use and work with the chosen venue effectively, which could include activities such as ordering refreshments

• provide updates and feedback to relevant Parkinson's UK staff members about how the café session are going

• work with the local Parkinson's UK team to think of creative ways to add interest and value to the café sessions


.Have excellent communication skills and a friendly attitude, as you will be working with a wide range of people

• Be patient and empathetic, in order to deal with sensitive issues and topics

• Be willing to listen and respond tactfully to the views and feedback of others, ensuring that it is shared with Parkinson's UK staff when appropriate

• Be motivated and reliable, with strong organisational skills in order to ensure the cafe sessions run smoothly

• Be able to share and uphold the vision and values of Parkinson's UK

• Either have knowledge of Parkinson's, or a willingness to learn more about it
