Description

Role SummaryWe are looking for an Honorary Treasurer to sit on our board of Trustees.

The role is based in Chester at the Chester Childbirth Appeal Fundraising Office in the Comfort Zone,  Women & Children’s Building at the Countess of Chester Hospital, Chester, CH2 1UL.

Role Description: We hope whoever is interested in helping in this way will see this as a long-term project. Our previous Honorary Treasurers, have been with us 17 years and 7 years respectively.

We have a purpose built office within the hospital even though our charity is entirely independent of  the NHS. It is more than likely that just 2 hours per week will be sufficient to devote to the work in  hand, and Mrs Daniels would be available to help on whatever the day/s the volunteer offers to  make sure that he/she has the necessary support to begin with. We have a 2 monthly evening meeting of about 2 hours duration that takes place at 6pm in Conference Room A of The Longhouse Building at The Countess of Chester Hospital. The next meeting is on 13th May 2019.

Required Skills: A competent Book Keeper with experience of Financial Management.

Person Specification: We would obviously like the person to be efficient and competent in dealing with the accounts, but we would also like someone friendly with a sense of humour, which always helps the wheels go round more smoothly!

What impact the role will have: We are a charity working to support our beneficiaries locally and we believe we are unique in being the first charity set up to support a maternity unit. That was in the beginning in 1991, but since then in 2002 we had our Charitable Objectives altered to include children as beneficiaries too. This year we celebrate our 29th Anniversary. The help of an experienced Treasurer will of course be an enormous advantage. Someone with new ideas and knowledge that will aid us in our endeavours to provide much needed amenities and facilities over and above those afforded by the NHS.

What’s in it for the volunteer?

We have such a friendly team who are a pleasure to work with. We do of course re-imburse travel costs, and we are situated next to our café, where delicious food is prepared on the premises. Free drinks are provided throughout the day and lunch, if needed, is £1.00.

Other InformationThis role can be done mainly within office hours, but it is entirely up to the individual to decide what valuable time he or she wishes to spare. For years we worked in a small space that was almost a cubby hole! Now we have a properly equipped office. We would of course consider the individual’s opinions for requirements and seek to make the working conditions as congenial as possible.
