Description

To build a trusting friendship with a person aged 50 or over, who is experiencing loneliness or social isolation.

As a Volunteer Buddy you could be helping someone to gain the confidence to leave the house for the first time, or take part in an activity, join a group, or enjoy trips to the cinema, with the aim of making new friends and connecting with the community around them. This is a shorter-term role for volunteers, usually for around 3-6 months. Our Volunteer Befrienders help create a supportive friendship with people who may not necessarily want to engage with groups or activities, but would like to spend time with another person, maybe just having a cup of tea and a chat or going out for a walk, etc.

Skills:

Friendliness, reliability, and a caring attitude.

Only registered members can apply for opportunities.
