Passion for Learning’s Enrichment Clubs are all about giving primary school age children fun experiences that help them to grow in confidence. Our Clubs try to bring new ideas to the children that attend and offer them the chance to develop new interests, find new hobbies and even think about the future careers that they might like to choose. All the things that we do are designed to be fun and to help children to feel secure in a place that they are familiar with. The children that come to the Clubs attend every week so it’s a place to make new friends both with other children and with the adults and helpers who volunteer.
All our clubs have a theme that is often related to a particular time of year or to something that is happening in the world. We want everyone to feel an important part of their own community, their locality, their country and the world at large. Being aware of everything around them is an important step. Clubs, therefore, will be themed around seasons, events (like the Olympics), special days (Valentine’s Day), things happening in the country (a general election) or general themes like science or careers. As a volunteer or helper one of the main jobs is to get to know the children and help to find out what their interests are and what they might like to find out more about.
Clubs are a place to relax, chat and play. Volunteers and Helpers can spend time with groups of children taking part in a large activity or with one child who just wants to sit and play a game. Helping is as much about listening and giving attention as about all the games and activities that are on offer.
