Bridge Wellness Gardens (BWG) is set up to provide a therapeutic environment for those with learning difficulties and mental health issues, and outdoor study facilities for children and young people. We also offer work experience to those of any age who want to prepare themselves for permanent employment elsewhere.
We need to recruit more volunteers to help us “grow better lives”. Located on our farm in Ellesmere Port, the volunteering roles are many and varied. If you like to work with, and support, people of all ages coping with varying degrees of mental health or life-long learning difficulties, do call us!
We’re looking for:
Better Lives café assistants: Produce simple, healthy food like vegetable soup, cauliflower cheese, filled jacket potatoes and baguettes, scones and cookies. You can make jams and chutneys as well if you like! Serve teas and coffees and help to create a happy and relaxed atmosphere for the young and old in our fab new Better Lives Café.
Typical hours 9.30 -12.30 or 12.00 – 3.00, Tues – Sat. Pick shifts and days to suit your personal schedule.
How we work
You will be championed by our Admin Lead, and volunteer co-ordinator, Amy Nelson. Amy will give you an induction and discuss with you your skills and relevant experience, and your availability and preferred volunteering days and times. She’ll arrange your DBS check and your Safeguarding and H&S training if required. Amy will be your main point of contact in terms of planning your volunteering shifts until a volunteer “Day Leader” is appointed for your department and day. This might be you, of course!!
Periodically we will hold special “volunteer perspective” meetings when Clair (Farm & Wellness Manager) and Francis (chair of Trustees) will bring you up to date with general developments and seek your input into how we can improve the effectiveness and smooth running of your area, and “grow even better lives”!
