Description

Do you have time to go into school for one and a half hours twice a week? Are you over 18 years of age and available during term time?  If you do, you could support 3 children aged between 4 and 11 years by working one to one with each child for half an hour twice a week. The aim of the project is to help the children with their learning & development. You work with the same three children each time you go into school, (twice a week) building up a relationship built on trust and reliability. Working outside the classroom environment giving one to one support you will be reading and enjoying books, playing games, doing crafts, cooking, building or anything that fires the children's desire to learn.

All volunteers will need to have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. No specific experience or qualifications necessary as full and ongoing training and support is given. It is really important that you are friendly and enthusiastic men or women aged over 18 years and you must enjoy the company of children and helping them learn. Ideally you will love books and reading. You should be an enthusiastic player of games and be able to engage with primary age children.
It is important that you are available in term time and that you are reliable and consistent and able to work independently and as part of a team. You must have a positive attitude to equality, diversity and safeguarding children.

Schools are available throughout Ellesmere Port and Chester area. The office is based in Dover Drive which is situated off Stanney Lane, which is the road that runs from the Police Station to Cheshire Oaks and Marks and Spencer. Dover Drive is almost opposite the old Stanney Grange school site and the Business Centre is on the right hand side with parking at the rear of the building.

The application process is quick and involves a day of training, as well as the DBS check which we will undertake for you.  Further training is provided to support you as a Volunteer once you are placed in a school.  We offer flexible volunteering opportunities ranging from 1 hour a week to 4 hour a week.  We will also cover your travel expenses which are set out in our policy.

Only registered members can apply for opportunities.
