Do you have sewing skills that you could put to good use for a National charity? Have you formerly worked in a factory or the fashion or garment industry and would you like to do some sewing for a charity? The British Red Cross warehouse in Winsford helps to sort clothes donated by retail outlets and redistribute them to British Red Cross charity shops around the country. Some of the articles and garments need some minor repairs or alteration to get them ready for sale. The warehouse would like to find a volunteer who enjoys sewing and has sewing skills to a commercial standard to help with the repairs, hemming and alterations. A commercial sewing machine is provided and you will be part of a friendly, busy team helping to package and distribute garments for sale in the charity shops around the country.
If you have previously worked in a garment factory, sewing, doing alterations or in a tailors establishment this would be a great volunteer opportunity for you.
Sewing skills to commercial standard are required for this role. You need to have good sewing skills and be reliable, preferably able to commit to half a day a week.
