This is an ongoing volunteer role that travels around the country working at schools in different areas. Each year a timetable is set for areas and schools, eg schools in North Wales, or Merseyside or Cheshire.
Are you interested in communicating science to a young audience? Lab in a Lorry is an interactive mobile science laboratory, giving 11-14 year olds the opportunity to explore science through open-ended experiments. Volunteers guide the students through the experiments making sure everyone gets to be involved. We require people aged 18 and over with a scientific background to help us present our experiments at our events and to inspire the next generation of scientists. If you want to practice your presentation skills, develop them or keep them up to date this is a great way to present to an audience.
Must be 18 or over, have a science or engineering background and have studied a science up to A level standard. You don't have to be currently employed as a scientist but you do need an interest and enthusiasm for science. If you have studied science but gone on to another career that is OK, because it demonstrates the variety of options people have if they have a science background or FE or HE Science qualification.
Events are held at schools around the different regions. Volunteers can choose convenient dates or venues that suit them and they will be sent a calendar.
