Helpers required to volunteer in primary schools to support pupils aged between 4 to 11 years with reading and related activities. Each volunteer has the same three pupils that they see twice a week for half an hour each pupil. This only happens in school term time. In that half hour you will be making a positive contribution to a young persons education and development. By supporting pupils you will be encouraging them to be independent readers, love the world of books, increasing their reading ability which has a positive knock on affect on all their other school work.
Volunteers visit a locally appointed school twice a week for approximately 1.5 hours during term time and make a massive difference to a young persons life.
You don't need experience you will have training before you start and during your time as a volunteer. The most important element is that volunteers are reliable and dependable.
Genuine love of reading books is important and you must be able to commit to the project and be reliable & consistent.
You need to be friendly and enthusiastic and aged over 18 and must have a desire to help young people and enjoy working with them.
You won't always be working with a team and you must be happy to work independently in a school environment.
Schools will be in the Ellesmere Port area.
Applicants must be over 18 years old and a DBS check and references are required.
The application process takes about 4 weeks and includes 2 days training as well as an interview and application form.
Will have the same three pupils twice a week for half an hour each.
You will be required to commit to 1.5-2 hours twice a week (3/4 hrs/wk) term time only.
Travel expenses will be paid.
