A youth worker is a person who works with young people, coordinating, organising and planning programs and social activities targeted toward their personal, educational, behavioural, developmental, psychological and emotional growth.  A DBS check will be required 

Key Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the needs of young people and outline measures to address them
  • Liaise with parents of young people and community leaders to organise youth empowerment programs and activities
  • Assist with fundraising from private organisations and government to fund youth oriented programs
  • Assist with training new volunteers on how to deal with young people
  • Make contributions in the formulation of policies that relate to young people in the society
  • Making young people better by dealing with issues of complex, and giving them the confidence they need to excel in life
  • Help young people to discover their potentials most especially when they cannot seem to discover these hidden potentials on their own
  • To instil good values and positive attitude in young people by teaching them these values and how they affect their lives
  • To serve as mentors to young people and as such lead an exemplary life worthy of admiration and imitation
  • To attend meetings and training when required
  • To work closely with the junior youth club leader

  • Volunteers will be given the opportunity to develop their practical skills and knowledge through supervision.  More importantly they need to keep an open mind with a flexible approach to work
