Catch 22 Home-Visiting volunteers provide practical and emotional support to families with children aged 0-19 years. These families may have previously received support through TAF (Team Around the Family) process and continue to need targeted support as identified by the lead professional for a time limited period. The role is varied and interesting and the overall aim is to assist the family.
You will be engaging with the families as required by the volunteer coordinator/ service manager. You will attend and participate in an induction and ongoing training as well as attending supervision and team meetings so you develop an understanding of the role, responsibilities and boundaries of being a volunteer.
You will be matched with an identified family to undertake specific tasks for a minimum of 12 weeks and to carry out your role in line with relevant policies and procedures in which time you will develop a supportive relationship with young people, families and staff and make the necessary practical arrangements in conjunction with your role and throughout you will be assisting children, young people and the family to recognise their achievements and celebrate with them.
You will need to be a good listener and have good communication skills as well as commitment to supporting children, young people and families. There is no specific experience needed as training will be given on all aspects of the role and additional shadowing sessions will be arranged.
You will need to be enthusiastic and have a willingness to get stuck in alongside the young people and families which is vital. Also you will need to be willing to travel to agreed locations in the area. Catch 22 will cover all travel costs, but cannot transport volunteers to these locations.
