Home Start Cheshire are looking for volunteers to be introduced to and support a family by visiting them regularly, ideally once per week for 2/3 hours. You will support the family both in their own home and outside in their community. To offer support, practical help, friendship and a listening ear and to encourage parents’ strengths and emotional well being for the ultimate benefit of their children. To assist families to both recognise and celebrate their achievements, no matter how big or small and to reassure families that difficulties in bringing up children are not unusual.
You will be required to share information with the Volunteer Coordinator and contact them if there is a concern about the physical or emotional well being of any member of the family and to complete any necessary paperwork/records required by the service. To actively develop a supportive relationship with families, staff and other volunteers. Also to develop an understanding of the role, responsibilities and boundaries of a volunteer.
Volunteers must be 16+ years of age and be a parent or have parenting experience.
You will be require to undertake a DBS check.
Training will take place 1 day a week over 8 weeks to complete and will include regular supervisory support for 4-6 weeks, one to one and telephone support as well as meetings.
You will receive 45p per mile of expenses if required.
Volunteers will need to work a minimum of 3 to 4 hours per week.
You will need to provide 2 references and complete an application form.
