Do you enjoy gardening? Have you got some spare time to help with a small garden which residents and visitors use at the house? The garden consists of flowerbeds, shrubs, pots, seating areas and gazebo,so there is lots to do. Some knowledge of seasonal jobs, needs and activities in a garden would be really useful.
The role can involve working with service users or working alone doing jobs in the garden. All the usual gardening activities such as tidying, cutting, digging, planting and maintenance are involved in this role.
At Making Space we provide services and support for those with a range of physical and mental health conditions including, learning disabilities and dementia. Volunteers are vital in helping us go the extra mile in providing excellent care and support services.
The support, encouragement and understanding provided by our volunteers helps the people who use our services to feel less isolated, gain confidence and give them the freedom to enjoy an everyday life. People who volunteer usually find they become more confident themselves and all our volunteers are supported to access training opportunities and develop new skills
Gardening skills and knowledge are needed for this role. This isn't a role that will be overseen or supervised by another gardener. Happy to work alone and under own initiative. Pleasant nature and good with people.
