Description

The Neuromuscular Centre's Spirit of Christmas Carol Concert marks the start of the festive season for the great and good of Cheshire.  Held annually at Chester Cathedral, the concert is now celebrating 22 years and typically sells out, attracting an audience of over 1000.  This magical evening is a star-studded affair, hosted by our Celebrity President, Matthew Kelly (of Stars in Their Eyes Fame), who brings an array of actors from stage and screen to perform festive readings.  In the past we've welcomed such stars as Alan Rickman, Benedict Cumberbach, Imelda Staunton, Jim Broadbent, and Carey Mulligan.  Last year's concert raised £35,000 for the charity, and we're hoping for a similar success this year.

As a small charity with limited resources, we are entirely reliant on volunteers to make this large-scale fantastic event happen.

We are looking to recruit a team of enthusiastic volunteers who are able to commit to being available from 5.30pm-11pm on Friday 24th November 2017 and work with us in two main areas outlined below.

  • Concert Stewarding: (5.45PM-7.30PM) - responsible for seating audience members within 3 allocated areas according to ticket price and providing excellent customer service.
  • Champagne and Canapés Reception: (8.45PM-11.15PM) - responsible for serving guests with champagne and canapés and providing excellent customer service.  The reception is black tie.  All volunteers will have the opportunity to watch the concert free of charge.  It is possible to do both roles if you'd like to see the event from start to finish.

Experience, Skills or Attributes needed:

  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Reliable and willing to commit to a designated role and time period
  • Previous events or customer service experience desirable but not essential - enthusiasm and reliability is what we're looking for.

What we will provide you with:

  • The opportunity to be an integral part of a successful Events Team
  • CV Reference
  • Experience of working on a large-scale fundraising event
  • The opportunity to watch the Spirit of Christmas Concert
