We are looking for volunteers to support Committee Representatives with a learning disability to play an important role in local and national debates. The purpose of this opportunity is to enable the committee members to participate fully in their roles so that they may effectively contribute to the governance of Mencap Cymru. Volunteers can help committee members prepare for and attend meetings, write speeches and help to organise paperwork and arrange travel. A volunteer with good communication skills, basic IT skills, patience and a good sense of humour would be ideal. The benefits of this role include gaining valuable employability skills such as speech writing and organisation as well as contributing to your local community. This is a long term role and volunteers should aim to visit the committee member for about 2 hours per month. This can be discussed on application.
