As a Collection's Volunteer responsible for the care of our boat cabins you will be involved in the routine monitoring and cleaning of the collection on display.  Through this role you will have the chance to have an impact on the visitor experience by maintaining and developing high quality displays as well as prolonging the collection's lifespan for future generations.  Please be advised that some of the cabins on our floating exhibits are confined spaces.

This role is flexible to suit, ideally you will be able to volunteer once a week to participate in routine housekeeping and collections cleaning tasks, but volunteering on an ad hoc basis and when required is also possible.

Skills Required:

No prior experience is needed.  We will provide you with all of the training and information you need on object handling and basic collections care.  We are looking for people who:

  • Have a friendly and enthusiastic personality and enjoy working with other people
  • Have an interest in learning about the history of the inland waterways and life on them
  • Have an interest in caring for historic collections
  • Have a good eye for detail
