To add value and real life experiences to activities delivered to school students.
We are delivering our Learn to Earn programme to Year 9 and Year 10 students at Blacon High School on 13th February. The programme gives students the chance to explore career options available to them and explores themes such as career choices, personal skills and talents, recruitment and job interviews, salaries, earnings, tax and the costs of living, financial planning and budgeting. We will be working with groups in classrooms to deliver over the course of the school day. YE colleagues will be delivering the sessions in each classroom but we are looking for volunteers to support the sessions to share their own personal experiences of education and career choices.
Volunteers would be able to join for the whole day or just an hour session if that worked better for them. They would be asked to share their own education and career to date in an inspirational way, and/or assist the students in smaller groups with the tasks set them throughout the day, hopefully encouraging more students to consider Higher Education than might have done before. Skills of working with young people, willingness to talk to large groups (30 students) and to smaller groups.
