About the opportunity
Our branch is self sufficient and relies solely on fundraising to help the cats in our care. We always need volunteers to help us at fundraising events. Without regular events and sales and original fundraising ideas, we could not continue our work.
Volunteers can also help out on our stalls , car boot sales, and if you have any new ideas to raise funds, we would really like to hear from you.
We aim to help even if all we can do is to offer advice and information. If we cannot help directly we will put enquirers in touch with others who may be able to; Telephone help line - We provide help and advice to the public through our help line. Rehoming - We rehome cats and kittens either directly from their original home, or from our fosterers who love them until their new home come along. Neutering - getting financial support - Our branch is able to help local cat owners who are on a low income with the cost of neutering their cat. Lost and Found - Our branch holds a register of cats that are reported to us as lost or found in order to help reunite them with their owners. We scan all found cats for a microchip which can identify their owners. Ferals - We help control colonies of cats living wild by our trapping and neutering scheme. If any kittens are caught young enough, it is possible for us to tame and find good homes for them. Advice and information - In addition to providing advice and information, via our helpline, Cats Protection provide a comprehensive range of literature on every aspect of cat care. Education - Our head quarters has produced 3 teaching packs available free of charge to schools. They teach pupils about responsible pet care whilst also covering areas of the national curriculum.
Volunteers need plenty of stamina, tons of enthusiasm and a car.
Good sense of fun, the role is varied and there is plenty of scope for people to specialise. Volunteers with new ideas about fundraising will be greatly appreciated.
Volunteers usually work from home.
