About the opportunity
To help in the preparation of the coffee morning and/or lunch club facilities for service users. To ensure that equipment and utensils are clean and safe to use. To ensure that hygiene procedures are always followed before preparing food and drink. To serve food, tea and coffee to service users. To clear tables after lunch or coffee and wash up afterwards. If a dishwasher is on site then to operate it safely and in the specified manner. To ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times. To ensure that protective clothing, such as tabards, is kept clean. To follow set hand washing procedures. To follow the Health and Safety Procedures in place.
We are a One to one befriending and regular visiting Scheme. Welcome centre Monday - Friday. Lunch clubs, support shopping, social outings, medical visits, support services, advice and sign pointing, talking newsletter, telephone link and hospital visiting.
We are looking from Volunteers a willingness to attend basic food awareness course, have good communication skills, also have an Ability to work as part of a team. Commitment and enthusiasm towards service users, also to become familiar with health and safety practices.
An Ability to empathise with older people. Attaining a basic food hygiene certificate. Ability to cook for lunch club. A willingness to take part in volunteer forums.
There are Courses available for Basic Food Hygiene Certificate. Trial period. Volunteers will need to have a DBS check.
