Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service have a Business Safety department that promotes the preventative fire safety message along with strict, structured technical advice in line with legislation which makes all business premises a safe place to work. It promotes awareness in the workforce, providing the knowledge and skills to deal with situations that arise, in a safe manner. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in Health and Safety in the business sector.
Volunteers will be required to attend impact days and seminars to hand out leaflets, record basic data, distribute promotional material as requested and accompany a member of staff to visit business premises
The Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service's volunteering programme has been running for a number of years and they continue to develop new opportunities for volunteers. Volunteers are engaged on a range of activities to promote fire and community safety.
Volunteers need good communication skills. Experience of health and safety would be very useful in this role. Marketing or presentation skills would also be useful to deliver the presentations to businesses and at events. Volunteer need to be comfortable talking to people and businesses.
Volunteer must be over 18 years old. Mileage is paid. Volunteers commit to at least 4 hours per month and can be picked up if they haven't got transport. Training is available for this role. Application time can take up to 10 to 12 weeks.
Availability of this service is: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm, Summer/Winter
