Since The Dove Service was founded 30 years ago, it has been providing one-to-one counselling for people coping with bereavement, grief and loss. This role will probably require volunteers to travel to other parts of Cheshire or Stoke. It is an ideal role for people studying counselling who have already reached Diploma level.
For those of you who are qualified/part qualified counsellors and registered with the BACP we are looking for volunteer counsellors and registered to deliver sessions from our Hanley office and at outreach locations.
Volunteer counsellors provide 3 hours minimum individual counselling per fortnight and facilitate a bereavement support group for 90 minutes once a fortnight. Counsellors must be qualified and DBS checked. Clients are either seen individually, in group sessions or on telephone therapeutic assessments, which are conducted with prospective clients.
For this role, volunteers must have a counselling diploma and a minimum of 50 hours counselling experience. They must have membership of BACP. This role is based in the Northwich area, parts of Cheshire and Stoke. Volunteers must be good listeners, have good communication skills, and empathy with clients experiencing bereavement or loss.
For people of 25+ years old; 4 weeks application process; expenses are paid at 40p a mile; commit to 3 hours per fortnight; volunteers receive support from supervisors, line manager and clinical support; volunteers undergo an induction and group work training. Volunteers should be aware, at this current time, that volunteering opportunities will probably take place outside the Ellesmere Port area and access to transport is key.
