Friends of the organisation help to provide additional help and befriending with volunteers who can help support and stimulate a small group of people. You will be helping the friendly staff to provide stimulating activities, personalised support and reduce social isolation. Activities can range from , chats, arts & crafts, music, gardening, going for a walk, playing a board game or baking. Simple tasks like supporting them to make a cup of tea helps keep people active and independent. The house is stimulating, relaxing, homely and above all fun. If you can spare a few hours you can develop skills and gain experience of helping people in a day care facility. This is a worthwhile role and would benefit anyone wanting to help people, gain experience of the care sector or go on to do future training in care, therapy or social work. Organisation is happy to provide taster sessions or trial periods. Volunteers can help for a day, half a day or just a few hours.
Good communication skills. Must be friendly and outgoing, happy to chat to people. Excellent people skills and lots of patience and understanding.
Any specific skills to do with activities or suggestions to do activities is welcome.
Previous care or befriending experience would be useful.
A Criminal Record Check (DBS) will be required
