You will be visiting a person with dementia or a carer on a regular basis and providing agreed opportunities to participate in social and recreational activities, building trust and companionship to enable the person with dementia or a carer to engage with activities in a safe enjoyable environment. Liaising and reporting to the Befriending Manager on a regular basis including changes or concerns regarding the service user as well as discussing personal learning and development needs. This role is ideal for a person who wants to know more about dementia and its impact on people. Someone who has good verbal communication and listening skills - especially face to face and are happy to volunteer in isolation, but still understand you are part of a team. Also you must recognise the importance of confidentiality, are prepared to undergo an induction and attend necessary training and are keen to provide a high standard of service. There is reimbursement of agreed out-of-pocket expenses such as travel. A DBS check will be required for this role.
