A great opportunity for any one who likes ecology and recycling and who would like to get involved with a residential camp helping young people with life-limiting illnesses. This will give you the experience of helping in a summer camp in a specialized way. You will be working with young people and you can put your interest in and experience of ecology, sustainability and nature programmes to good use in a fun way. This is part of the Alcoa Good and Green Volunteer Programme which provides specialist roles for students studying ecology, environmental sciences or nature programs.
In addition to regular camp duties, Alcoa Volunteers will take on a leadership role as they develop and implement nature-related programming for the campers. These programs, in addition to adding to the camper experience, will ensure the sustainability of camp and its operations.
Projects may include: developing innovative approaches to recycling and re-purposing used materials; improving sustainable operations and decreasing waste at the camp; and fully utilising the natural environment, including nature trails and outpost camping.
