Volunteers are required to support the Good Company Social Group. Good Company is a social group for disabled adults. Individuals that attend the group come and have fun and are involved in a range of activities, examples of activities include; games, cookery, arts, drama, gardening, singing, cinema visits, bowling and meals out. As a result of attending the groups individuals grow in confidence and increase their self esteem, they are able to reach their full potential and develop relationships with their peers. Volunteers will support adults aged 19 + within the group or on a 1:1 to take part in activities. This a rewarding role for anyone that has a couple of hours free a week. This is good experience for anyone that wants to progress in a career working with disabled people. Volunteers are also required for day trips throughout the summer months. The Volunteer Coordinator and Group Coordinator are there for support. The Volunteer will receive regular supervisions and induction training for the role they are going to undertake, along with access to organisational training.
Volunteers should be: Reliable, honest, patient, enthusiastic, none-judgemental, willing to learn new skills and committed to the inclusion of disabled young people. No formal qualifications are required. Volunteers can expect a full induction and access to in house training and regular supervisions. We also offer support to younger volunteers to gain their Duke of Edinburgh Award. A DBS Check will be required.
We currently have roles in both our Chester group. Full directions will be given if the applicant decides to progress with volunteering.
