Description

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Targeted Youth Support Team run several projects and need volunteers in all areas in Cheshire.
Primary Respect Project for children aged 8 to 11  - Pupils are selected by the school to attend 2 hour sessions once a week for 6 weeks to help develop their confidence and responsibility and make the most of their abilities.
Respect Project for children aged 13 to 16 - Young people who are referred to the nine week programme by many agencies.  The aim of the project is to establish an entitlement for all children to develop and apply knowledge, skills and understanding that will help them to become successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens.
Both of our Respect courses allow young people the opportunity to work with firefighters to experience using equipment in a safe and controlled environment.  By working with partner agencies and allowing young people the chance to get out and about in the community we can challenge behaviours whilst offering new skills.
On the Streets (OTS) - Meet young people on the streets in areas having problems with anti social behaviour particularly fire setting.  The aim is to engage young people, develop activities and facilitate positive links between the young people and others/groups in their local area to construct an ongoing legacy which is beneficial to all within the community.  Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service volunteers will be required to have the necessary skills and temperament, whilst this is a rewarding role it can sometimes be challenging.
Availability for this service is:
Monday - Friday 9am - 9pm, (dependent on project) Summer/Winter
Only registered members can apply for opportunities.
