We seek a Company Secretary to support our board of trustees as we move forward. The existing Company Secretary has been in post for 7 years and has witnessed the growth of the charity. He is willing to remain on the Board to offer support to the new Company Secretary for a period of time. This is a role frequently undertaken by someone with legal or high level administrative expertise. The role has a significant compliance component as the Company Secretary must ensure that the administrative responsibilities and requirements set out in company law, charity law and our articles of association, are carried out. Other responsibilities include ensuring that the company details are correctly displayed, to ensure that all papers for Board meetings are prepared in a timely way, to take minutes, and to keep all company records. Role – The new trustee will be an active member of the board and will be involved in committee work, relevant task groups and will keep us abreast of developments in charity compliance.
Skills – High level administrative and or legal skills. It is not essential to have worked in the charity sector, as full training will be made available. What is essential is that the successful appointment is happy to work with a team of skilled volunteers ( the board of trustees), the small staff team, and annually, the Independent Examiner or Auditor.
